- Is my information confidential?
Your information is definitely confidential and we take the issue of personal privacy very seriously. The only way your information would be released is at your specific request.
- Do you accept my insurance?
We accept almost all major insurance coverage in the Portland area, including Medicare. Additionally, we accept the Care Oregon portion of the Oregon Health Plan. We are not preferred providers on every plan, and the best way to verify your coverage would be to contact your insurance carrier directly.
If we are not in network for your plan, it means that you would most likely end up paying more than if we are in your network or if we are a preferred provider for your plan. You can also call Westover Heights Clinic to ask the front desk staff if we accept your insurance or not.
Most insurance plans now have a deductible – an amount that you have to pay yourself before insurance reimbursement kicks in. Sometimes that amount is large, like $1,000, so you might end up paying a good portion of your visit and laboratory expenses yourself. Furthermore, sometimes, things like annual exams and physical exams are fully covered without a deductible once per year.
In order to figure all this out, it is best to contact your insurance company in advance of your visit so there are no surprises. Click here to see a list of insurances we take.
- What if I want to pay cash at the time of my visit?
You can certainly pay cash at the time of your visit. There is a significant discount offered when you pay at the time of the service vs. billing insurance. We take Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, cash and checks.
- Do you have a sliding fee scale?
Unfortunately, we don’t. If money is a concern for you, Multnomah, Clackamas and Washington county all have medical clinics that may be able to meet your needs. You may also check with Planned Parenthood.
- What kind of clinicians do you employ?
Our staff includes one Doctor of Medicine (MD), one Naturopathic Doctor (ND), and four Nurse Practitioners. All of our providers can prescribe necessary medications, and order lab tests and x-rays as needed. Our physician, Marcia Kerensky, MD, specializes in internal medicine, meaning she provides general health care for adult men and women. Lisa Taulbee, ND works with both men and women providing general healthcare, and is currently accepting new Care Oregon patients.
Sheryl Horwitz, WHCNP and Susan Mitchell-Miller, FNP, provide the majority of our women’s gynecology care, and have many years of extensive experience in this area of practice. Our clinic owner, Terri Warren, ANP, specializes in sexual health issues and genital herpes consultations. All of our providers can see patients with or without insurance. And yes, we would love to be your primary care provider! You can find out more about each of our clinicians here.
